As a virtuoso recorder player, Baroque flautist and harpsichordist, Thomas is a dynamic and versatile force within the early music scene. Recent engagements have included playing in the Royal Opera House’s Olivier Award-winning production of Alcina and ENO’s Olivier Award-winning production of Noye’s Fludde. Upcoming work includes performances of L’Orfeo with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at Glyndebourne and La liberazione di Ruggiero with Vache Baroque at the Buxton International Festival. Alongside his performing career, he is also developing a distinctive profile as a recording producer for early-music projects, bringing stylistic insight and a collaborative approach to a growing number of album recordings.
Additionally, he co-directs internationally acclaimed ensemble Apollo’s Cabinet. Winners of the Royal Overseas League Mixed Ensemble prize, Utrecht Oude Muziek Competiton and the Göttingen International Händel Competition, the group offer a signature mix of acting, dancing, poetry and drama to bring historical performance to modern audiences. Noteworthy performances to date include concerts at the London Handel Festival, Konzerthaus Vienna, Felix! Festival Köln, The Georgian Concert Society Edinburgh, the Thüringer Bachwochen, AMIA Strasbourg, and the Musikfestspielen Potsdam Sanssouci.
